We were tasked to develop the brand identity for a new, groundbreaking organization that was created to develop science that would help combat rising seas and the disappearance of land mass around the globe. For the logo icon, we wanted to create a mark that illustrates the work of the Institute. The droplets featured work together to form a cohesive “W”. This represents the harmonious existence between land and water. With Gulf already in the name, we felt it was equally important to demonstrate the Institute’s deltaic work. The form that wraps around the droplets mimics that of a winding river. The colors of the individual droplets transition from green to blue to emphasize further the relationship between land and water and their symbiotic existence. The type was chosen to portray a solid, bold and level line – which represents the foundation of science the Institute’s recommendations will be based upon.
